And a foot massager sounded divine. So after studying the reviews on many of them, I picked this one up.
I picked Renpho over other foot massagers because in general the reviews are better. And I picked it over the foot and calf massager styles I saw because this is easier to move and has a remote.
So then it came down to which Renpho. Surprisingly the ones without the remote and upgraded heat, at the time I write this, cost about the same as the two with those features. So it was between the one with the smart phone app or the remote.
I went with the one with the remote because I wanted my family to be able to use it easily and because I didn’t want to be tempted to use social media with my phone while using the massager. I wanted to put my phone away and just relax. In addition, I downloaded the Renpho app for another product, which I ended up returning. And I did not like the ‘discover’ button on the bottom corner which takes you to a page of Renpho ads. No, you don’t have to click it but I don’t want a button with links to ads on the control of an app I’m using to relax with.
The foot massager is nice. It’s not like having a real person rub your feet but it’s good. I think there should be a level between medium and high.
Overall, I like it but I do feel the rub could be improved. I also feel it’s noisy as it transitions from one type of massage to the next. My guess is from reading reviews it’s one of the best of what’s available right now. If you opt to buy a Renpho foot massager, I would definitely recommend this version with the upgraded heat and dedicated remote.
Top reviews from other countries
This review is for the unit with the full heat function (instep and sole).
I bought this unit based on the reviews. I was looking for a massager that would treat my plantar facciitis. I usually wear shoes with orthotic insoles when I work in the office, I need hard insoles to support my high arches. Since I've been working from home, I've found that my feet ache more due to wearing soft slippers at home and wanted some relief while sitting at my desk.
First impressions:
-Good build quality of the machine, solid and doesn't creak, feels like a high quality machine. Color is sleek and looks good in the home.
-Lightweight, easy for one person to carry and move around.
-I like how the sole part actually lights up a bit when the machine is on (as per my first picture), looks like you are putting your feet on hot coals
-The foot wells are decently space apart. I find my knees usually point kind of outwards with my feet inside.
-Removable liners make cleaning easy.
-The remote control is very convenient to have for this unit. You can control all functions of the unit with the remote control rather than having to bend over. The only thing to note is you need to point the remote right at the machine to change the settings. So if it's under your desk, you need to point the remote down between your legs for it to change the settings.
Main features:
-It's always on a timer, either 15 minutes or 30 minutes. I find 30 minutes to be most effective. The manual says you should let the machine cool after using it for 30 minutes, I'm guessing for longevity of the machine, but I have had no issue using it for 1 hour or longer at a time.
-There are 3 kneading intensity settings, low, medium, high. This controls how fast the kneading fingers rotate. The fingers rotate up and down, mainly focusing on the heel, the arch, and the ball of the foot. It doesn't really do anything for your toes. Needs to be combined with the air intensity function for best effect, as the air bags force your feet down into the kneading fingers more.
-There are 3 air intensity settings, low, medium, high. This controls how much the air bags inflate which compress your feet. Low doesn't have that much effect, I think either medium and high are the most effective. On high you definitely get the most effect, there is a big jump in intensity from medium to high. The air intensity inflates in a set pattern, and inflates to different levels for different durations (a few seconds each) during each cycle. I find my feet get more effect from the heat function with medium or high air intensity, because your feet get more encased and compressed. While high kneading intensity alone is not painful, high air intensity is where the most pain would occur; Each cycle of high intensity compresses your feet fairly hard and pushes them hard into the kneaders, it can hurt if you have sensitive feet.
-There are three heating settings, full, bottom, and instep. You can also turn off heat altogether. I usually keep it on full. The instep part heats up the fastest before the sole part I find. Also you can turn off both kneading intensity and air intensity to just use the machine as a foot heater. I find this useful in my cold basement.
The following are my impressions of some other users reviews:
-Unlike others, I don't think this massager is particularly quiet when using the Air Intensity (air bags) function. The noise comes from the motor inflating the air bags to pressure your feet. If I'm in a Zoom call, I turn it the air intensity feature off, I'm pretty sure it would be noticeable to others on the call. It is quiet if you just have the kneading function on. Also, it is quite loud if you use the air intensity function in a room that echoes a lot, especially on hardwood floor. I recommend carpeted floor in a basement for the least distraction to others.
-I find that it does heat up fairly quickly, especially this model with the full foot heating functionality. The instep heating definitely is worth the extra over the old model. The instep section heats up much faster than the sole part, and I think I notice the instep heating much more than the sole heating.
-The pressure intensity is very subjective. I recommend starting with low kneading and medium air intensity. The high air intensity really pushes your foot hard into the kneaders and can hurt if you aren't used to it. For my plantar faciitis, I find that low kneading and high air intensity hits the spots. When I turn off air intensity to be quiet, I prefer to keep kneading intensity on medium or high. I find kneading intensity medium/high + air intensity high to be a bit too intense.
-The foot wells are big enough to accommodate many sizes of feet (it says up to size 12). For that reason, I find sometimes I need to adjust my feet positioning to hit certain spots (I have size 8 feet mens). For smaller feet, you may need to move your feet around quite a bit to get the best positioning.
What I wish it had:
-Save preferred settings in machine memory. I almost always use low kneading / high air intensity setting and have to input these settings each time the machine is turned back on. It would be nice to just turn on the machine to my preferred settings.
-More cushioning around the openings of the foot wells. Sometimes I just rest my feet in the machine without turning it on and I find the edges of the foot wells dig into my calves if I am sitting a certain way.
-Different kneading directions, or different patterns so it isn't always the same.
-If your current settings could be displayed on the remote control so I don't have to look down at the machine to see what settings you have.
Overall conclusions:
I'm impressed with the unit and it definitely has relieved the aches in my feet from my high arches. I can see this unit lasting a long time, it is well-constructed. It has become a part of my daily routine working at home.

Your feet fit snuggly in to the unit.
It comes with a convenient remote control.
You can apply different settings for run time; heat; kneading; and air intensity.
I thought the air intensity just blew air jets onto your feet. I was wrong.! It makes the socks that your feet fit into swell up - a bit like a blood pressure strap squeezing your feet.
The kneading and the air intensity go through varying cycles of pressure on your feet. It “hurts” a bit on the highest settings at first, but you get used to it quickly (or of course you can just reduce the settings).
Your feet get a great work out and feel incredible afterwards. Wish I had bought one of these sooner.
Highly recommend to anyone who suffer from aching feet.
The product itself is great. Highly recommend for anyone who had trouble with plantar fasciitis. Several hard balls on the bottom that move around pressed against the sole of the foot. Airbag type things on top and around the sides of the foot that massage and help to hold/press your foot down on the massaging balls. I did find myself having to relocate my feet during the massage but that may have been my melting hehe.
Remote control comes with battery so you can use it straight away.
The power cord seems to be plenty long enough for most use I think. Though the connection port for it I would prefer to be on the front rather that the side just because of my location when using it compared to the outlet.
Its quite a bulky unit but i find it easy to move with the 'bridge' part between the feet.
Its not cheap but if you have plantar and have not tried something like this before I highly suggest that you do.
